On «Sibsteklo» filmed auteur film based on the story of Irwin Shaw

Dear colleagues, we are publishing news about a member of the Association "StekloSouz" of Russia LLC Siberian Glass (Sibsteklo):

Part of the scenes for a feature film was filmed in the glass complexes of Siberian Glass LLC - the thesis work of Oksana Berillo, a graduate of the Higher Courses for Scriptwriters and Directors. G.N. Danelia, workshop of Pavel Lungin and Irina Volkova.

According to director Oksana Berillo, she herself wrote the script for the film based on the short story by Irwin Shaw "Monument":

- The theme is the same - the search for one's vocation, reflections on the memory that a person leaves behind, but the action has been transferred to modern Russia, which Pavel Semenovich [Lungin] insisted on. It will be mumblecore in the "short" format: in a bar, two visitors, the owner of the establishment and the bartender are talking "for life" surrounded by glass bottles, glasses, goblets and glasses. And we decided to add another storyline related to the manufacture of glass - the line of the wife of one of the main characters, often mentioned during the dialogue, who works in a glass factory. She was played by an unprofessional actress - Novosibirsk blogger, designer Irina Koroleva. The story of the character with the symbolic name Love will become a framework for the entire film narrative, and the voice of the heroine, which also sounds behind the scenes, will help to reflect the meanings.

Actors from Novosibirsk theaters are also involved in the film - Kamil Kungurov from the Red Torch, Vladimir Alekseytsev from the Globus, artist Sergei Kerzhentsev (who also acted as the producer of the project) and psychotherapist German Pilipenko.

The editing of the film, having discussed the footage with Pavel Lungin, is planned to be completed in the spring, sound design will be done by Moscow sound engineers.

“We will try to adapt the background noises at work – the symphony of a large factory – to create a sound leitmotif that accompanies the heroine,” says Oksana Berillo. - But, in general, those who shoot have a developed visual channel of perception, and when our group arrived at Sibsteklo, we realized that we hit the mark. Lyubov has a difficult fate, a deep inner world, and her image is organic in the atmosphere of the workshop: red-hot orange bottles on the conveyor, a combination of bright fiery and dark shades - there is something mystical here...

The director hopes that after defending his diploma, the film will be included in the programs of film festivals.
