In the Kuban, they plan to spend 8 billion rubles on reform of waste management

Annually, 2.5 million tons of garbage are produced in the region, while only 10% is recycled. The rest of the garbage is disposed of, often this is done at licensed landfills, noted on March 16 in the regional ministry of the fuel and energy complex and housing and communal services.

In the region they plan to reconstruct landfills in Belorechensk, Novorossiysk and Timashevsk, all in all, the authorities want to build seven inter-municipal landfills with sorting lines. It is also planned to build factories for the processing of waste rubber, glass, plastic and paper. They plan to spend 8 billion rubles of investments on reform.

Recall that in 2019, garbage reform in the Russian Federation entered an active phase. The regions were supposed to develop and move to new waste management systems by the end of the year. However, the large-scale restructuring of the waste management system has faced many problems: from setting tariffs for export to creating new processing plants.

In early December, it became known that the Kuban was among the regions that failed garbage reform. They did not comply with the law, and in 2020 will continue the transition to a new system. In addition, in the region they moved to a separate collection of plastic. In December 2019, it was alleged that they would begin to collect it separately in the Kuban from January 1, 2020, but in February Governor Veniamin Kondratyev said that separate plastic collection would begin from July 1, 2020.

According to Greenpeace, Krasnodar became the 105th largest city in terms of the availability of separate waste collection. According to the organization, in the regional center only 7% of the container sites are tanks for collecting recyclables.
