Yesterday, April 04, 2023, the Moscow Economic Forum 2023 began its work.
The key theme of the Forum: “The New World. New industrialization.
The Association "StekloSouz" of Russia (hereinafter referred to as the SSR) is a permanent long-term participant of this event, representing the glass industry of the Russian Federation.
Viktor Osipov, President of the Association, acted as a delegate from the SSR.
During the first plenary discussion “Russian Economy. Course towards new industrialization”, the chairman of the forum, Konstantin Babkin, said that the multipolarity of the world is becoming a fact. But to become a full-fledged pole, Russia needs economic reforms.
“The templates by which the government operates were formed in past eras, they no longer work in many ways,” Babkin said. “Working with outdated templates creates risks associated with huge losses. Not so long ago, it was believed that Russia has the role of a bridge between the West and the East, the role of an appendage of the global economy. Because of the sanctions, the concept has changed. Today we are building a sovereign economy. And this is a different concept. But tax, monetary and foreign trade policies operate according to old patterns. They are aimed at integrating Russia into the Western economy. This is absurd! A different philosophy is required. Our forum is called upon to play a serious role in this. Offer medicines that will fill the beautiful and tenacious organism called Russia.
The IEF participants propose to bet on the development of industrial production - the non-primary sector. Under the auspices of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the chairman of the forum, Konstantin Babkin, developed the principles of the New Industrialization strategy. The main message of the program is that the domestic industry is able to become the engine of the state's economic development, contribute to the growth of the population's well-being and the formation of technological sovereignty. This requires tax breaks, cheap loans to businesses and individuals, protectionism in relation to their own producers.
MEF-2023 will host 19 round tables and a number of plenary discussions.
