A line for sorting and processing container glass was launched in Nizhny Novgorod

Istok Group of Companies launched a line for sorting and processing container glass in Nizhny Novgorod. The opening took place on November 29, 2023.

The line capacity is 15 tons per hour. As the organization’s general director Denis Tavrov said, the company invested 160 million rubles in its launch. It is planned that it will pay for itself in two to three years.

On average, the organization collects about 27 thousand tons of glass per year. At the same time, Tavrov noted that the amount of glass containers that Nizhny Novgorod residents donate to eco-points is not enough, so Istok also cooperates with re-operators, including in neighboring regions.

Glass is brought from eco-points to the enterprise. There it will go to a new line where bottles and cans are crushed. A magnetic catcher then removes some of the metal from the waste. Next, the cullet goes into a burat sieve and vibrating feeder, and then into magnetic separation. All this allows you to remove impurities. The finished recyclable materials are sent to the Rusjam plant in Gorokhovets.

“A lot can be made from glass, I was surprised. These include fittings and now popular balls that replace quartz sand for cleaning pools,” said the general director of Istok Group.
