The cycle of glass in nature or a chain: the population - the supplier - the glass factory. Excursion to the glass-making plant «Alex Trade» LLC in Novocherkassk

With the assistance of the Association "StekloSouz" of Russia, the Rostov Regional Environmental Public Organization "Rostov - the city of the future" won a grant from the President of the Russian Federation for the development of civil society.

Within the framework of the presidential grant, the project "Introduction of separate waste collection through monthly campaigns and education with the subsequent development and support of a separate waste collection system at home" is being implemented. Particular attention is paid to the collection of glass containers and cullet from the population with subsequent processing and disposal at glass factories in Russia.

In order to implement the above project, an ecological and educational excursion on the topic “The circulation of glass in nature” was held at the glass-making plant “Alex Trade” LLC in Novocherkassk. Best Available Technologies ". The excursion, which took place on September 29, 2020, was attended by active citizens of Rostov-on-Don, representatives of environmental movements.

LLC "Alex Trade" is a modern enterprise that uses closed-loop technology for the production of glass packaging, namely the use of secondary resources (cullet). The plant accepts cullet from all over the South and Central part of Russia, as well as the Baltic states. Modern equipment and a cullet preparation and sorting workshop, equipped with Austrian advanced optical equipment, allows processing 250 tons of cullet in a 12-hour shift and producing 280 new bottles (for wine or beer) per minute. In total, the plant employs 750 people.

The plant also cooperates with various companies - cullet procurement companies, which provide services for the collection, processing and delivery of cullet to the plant. Container cullet collected from the population and processed by the procurement company is delivered to the plant. The plant accepts container cullet of both the first and second grade: mix, colorless, brown and green.
