Kaliningrad glassblowing workshop processed seven tons of glass

The first glassblowing workshop in Kaliningrad processed seven tons of glass. Residents of the region hand over bottles for recycling, and workshop specialists process them and turn them into art. Natalya Golubova, co-owner of the glass-blowing workshop, spoke about this in an interview with RIA Baltic Plus.

At first, the creators of the art space were afraid that Kaliningrad residents would not bring glass containers for recycling, but, as calculations have shown, residents of the region care about the environment and willingly hand over bottles. “In 2024, we plan to recycle 20-25 tons of glass,” said Natalya Golubova.

“Last season, in 2023, we collected about 7 tons - this is our one glass melting furnace. We started collecting glass a year in advance - in May. We were afraid that no one would hand over the bottles to us. There were fears because no one knew about us, and they didn’t know why we needed bottles. This year we plan to process 20-25 tons. But we also plan to release the same number of products. I hope that not only Kaliningrad, but also other regions of Russia will become our consumers. But some already are. Moscow, for example"

Natalya Golubova also spoke about the flow of tourists in the unusual art space. It is noted that since the opening of the workshop, out of thousands of visitors, 50% are tourists. Residents of Kaliningrad and the region are equally interested and visit the glassblowing workshop.
