KEO sent another batch of glass for recycling to partner companies.
The autumn shipment is 40 tons of glass. The recyclable materials were sent to partner factories, where they will be used to make glass containers, dishes and glass wool.
We thank everyone whose efforts allowed us to accumulate such a volume. It is your care and willingness to actively participate in separate collection that makes a significant contribution to changing the environmental situation - after all, this waste did not go to the landfill, but will get a second life. It should be noted that the average content of recyclable materials in yellow bins is 50%, - the utility workers clarified.
Recall that the garbage reform in Karelia began last year. On March 30, the first sorting line began operating in Petrozavodsk. This is where waste is brought and separated into fractions. Petrozavodsk became the starting point, where new yellow containers for the accumulation of waste suitable for recycling were placed on container sites. Following the capital, the Prionezhsky, Pryazhinsky districts and Suoyarvi successfully picked up the baton of the RSO.
During the operation of the sorting station, 426 tons of glass were collected.
Earlier it was reported that the Pitkyaranta District joined the separate waste collection and became the last point in the south of Karelia where yellow containers were installed. Earlier this year, accessible separate collection had already "arrived" in Lakhdenpokhya and Sortavala. Now more than 60% of Karelia residents can separate waste within walking distance. It is planned that by the end of the year the figure will increase to 70%, thanks to the inclusion of several more municipalities in the system.
