III decade, May 2024. Dynamics of the market for railway glass shipments

The shipment of glass by rail to the Russian market (domestic deliveries + imports) in the third decade of May 2024 continued to exhibit negative dynamics relative to the same period last year – minus 25.1%.

In May 2024, the volume of glass shipped by rail to the Russian market amounted to 3.1 million square meters. m, which is 19.5% less than for the same period in 2023.

Despite a significant drawdown in the last ~2 months, for the period from the beginning of the year to May 31, 2024, the volume of glass shipments by rail to the Russian market amounted to 16.5 million square meters. m, which is 9.4% more than for the same period in 2023.

Decrease in supplies of glass by rail for the period from January 1 to May 31, 2024 in two districts of the Russian Federation (in brackets - dynamics for the period from the beginning of the year to April 30, 2024):

• Central Federal District -29.1% (previously -24.3%);

• Southern Federal District -16.3% (previously -31.7%).

Consumption of glass delivered by rail for the period from January 1 to May 31, 2024 increased in six districts of the Russian Federation (in parentheses - dynamics for the period from the beginning of the year to April 30, 2024):

• Far Eastern Federal District +62.2% (previously +86.9%);

• Volga Federal District +46.9% (previously +98.6%);

• Northwestern Federal District +21.4% (previously +27.3%);

• Ural Federal District +15.9% (previously +15.8%);

• North Caucasian Federal District +7.0% (previously +15.7%);

• Siberian Federal District +4.0% (previously +13.5%).

The share of railway glass supplies to the Russian market in total consumption for 3 months of 2024 was ~21%.
