III decade, March 2023. Market analysis of railway shipments of glass

At the end of March 2023, the total volume of shipment of flat glass by rail (domestic transportation + import) amounted to 2.4 million m2, which is 43.2% less than in March 2022.

In the third decade of March 2023, glass shipments by rail to the Russian market continued to decline (domestic supplies + imports) - minus 41.1% compared to the corresponding period last year. In the second decade of March 2023 - minus 35.5%.

For the period from the beginning of the year to March 31, 2023, shipment of glass by rail to the Russian market amounted to 7.4 million square meters. m, which is 30.3% less than for the same period in 2022 (a decade earlier - minus 28.5%).

The consumption of railway glass for the period from January 01 to March 31, 2023 decreased in five districts of the Russian Federation (in brackets - the dynamics for the period from the beginning of the year to February 28, 2023):

• Volga Federal District -71.9% (previously -74.0%);

• FEFD -60.9% (previously -44.0%);

• Siberian Federal District -25.6% (previously -14.5%);

• Southern Federal District -12.4% (previously +46.5%);

• Ural Federal District -11.2% (previously +15.6%).

Glass deliveries by rail increased in three districts of the Russian Federation (in brackets - the dynamics for the period from the beginning of the year to February 28, 2023):

• North Caucasus Federal District +21.5% (previously +4.3%);

• NWFD +13.0% (previously +17.2%);

• CFD +1.9% (previously +4.1%).

For comparison: the dynamics of railway shipment of glass in 2022 was minus 9.9%, and the dynamics of the entire glass market was minus 19.1%. The share of railway deliveries of glass to the Russian market in the total consumption of this product in 2022 amounted to about 20%.
