In the third ten days of August 2023, shipments of glass by rail to the Russian market (domestic supplies + imports) fell below the level of the corresponding period last year for the first time in the last 5 months - minus 0.5%. In the second decade of August 2023 – plus 14.4%.
In August 2023, glass shipments by rail to the Russian market (domestic deliveries + imports) amounted to 3.9 million square meters. m, which is 24.4% more than in August 2022.
For the period from the beginning of the year to August 31, 2023, glass shipments by rail to the Russian market amounted to 27.5 million square meters. m, which is 8.2% more than for the same period in 2022 (a decade earlier, plus 8.6%).
A decrease in shipments of glass by rail for the period from January 1 to August 31, 2023 was recorded in three districts of the Russian Federation (in brackets - dynamics for the period from the beginning of the year to July 31, 2023):
• Volga Federal District -21.9% (previously -25.6%);
• Far Eastern Federal District -18.0% (previously -29.7%);
• Southern Federal District -8.0% (previously -7.7%).
Glass shipments by rail for the period from January 1 to August 31, 2023 increased in the following districts of the Russian Federation (in parentheses - dynamics for the period from the beginning of the year to July 31, 2023):
• Northwestern Federal District +87.1% (previously +99.1%);
• North Caucasian Federal District +48.8% (previously +36.1%);
• Siberian Federal District +22.1% (previously +24.3%);
• Ural Federal District +9.4% (previously +11.2%);
• Central Federal District +4.8% (previously +4.0%).
For comparison: the dynamics of railway glass shipments in the first half of 2023 was plus 1.0%, and the dynamics of the entire glass market was minus 13.0%. The share of railway glass supplies to the Russian market in the total volume of glass consumption in the first half of 2023 was about 23%.
