I decade, September 2023. Dynamics of the market for railway glass shipments

In the first ten days of September 2023, glass shipments by rail to the Russian market (domestic deliveries + imports) continued to decline and amounted to minus 21.2%. In the third decade of August 2023 – minus 0.5%.

For the period from the beginning of the year to September 10, 2023, glass shipments by rail to the Russian market amounted to 28.4 million square meters. m, which is 6.9% more than for the same period in 2022 (a decade earlier – plus 8.2%).

Glass shipments by rail decreased for the period from January 1 to September 10, 2023 in three districts of the Russian Federation (in parentheses are the dynamics for the period from the beginning of the year to August 31, 2023):

• Volga Federal District -21.8% (previously -21.9%);

• Far Eastern Federal District -16.9% (previously -18.0%);

• Southern Federal District -14.4% (previously -8.0%).

Glass shipments by rail for the period from January 1 to September 10, 2023 increased in the following districts of the Russian Federation (in parentheses - dynamics for the period from the beginning of the year to August 31, 2023):

• Northwestern Federal District +90.4% (previously +87.1%);

• North Caucasian Federal District +50.1% (previously +48.8%);

• Siberian Federal District +19.1% (previously +22.1%);

• Ural Federal District +8.9% (previously +9.4%);

• Central Federal District +6.5% (previously +4.8%).

For comparison: the dynamics of railway glass shipments in the first 7 months of 2023 was plus 5.9%, and the dynamics of the entire glass market was minus 8.4%. The share of railway glass supplies to the Russian market in the total volume of glass consumption in the first half of 2023 was about 23%.
