I decade, July 2024. Dynamics of the market for railway glass shipments

According to preliminary estimates, the shipment of glass by rail to the Russian market (domestic supplies + imports) in the first ten days of July 2024 continued to exhibit negative dynamics relative to the same period last year – minus 8.7%. The shipment volume amounted to 1.2 million sq. m.

Consumption of railway glass by transport in the first ten days of July 2024 increased in three federal districts of the Russian Federation. The maximum increase in railway supplies to the Northwestern Federal District is +69.5%. The decrease in supplies occurred in five federal districts of the Russian Federation, the largest in the Southern Federal District - 60.1%.

Volume of railway glass consumption in the first ten days of July 2024 in the Federal District of the Russian Federation (dynamics as a percentage compared to the same period last year):

• Northwestern Federal District – 81 thousand sq. m. m (+69.5%);

• Siberian Federal District – 529 thousand sq. m. m (+10.9%);

• Volga Federal District – 247 thousand sq. m. m (+6.9%);

• Central Federal District – 63 thousand sq. m. m (-22.4%);

• Ural Federal District – 82 thousand sq. m. m (-24.6%);

• North Caucasus Federal District – 34 thousand sq. m. m (-36.4%);

• Far Eastern Federal District – 112 thousand sq. m. m (-43.7%);

• Southern Federal District – 41 thousand sq. m. m (-60.1%).

For the period from the beginning of the year to July 10, 2024, the volume of glass shipments by rail to the Russian market amounted to 21.9 million square meters. m, which is 5.3% more than for the same period in 2023.

Consumption of railway glass from January 1, 2024 to July 10, 2024 increased in six federal districts of the Russian Federation. The maximum increase in railway supplies to the Volga Federal District is +40.7%. The decrease in supplies occurred in two federal districts of the Russian Federation, the largest in the Central Federal District - 32.5%.

Volume of railway glass consumption from January 1 to July 10, 2024 in the Federal District of the Russian Federation (dynamics as a percentage compared to the same period last year):

• Volga Federal District – 3,903 thousand sq. m. m (+40.7%);

• Far Eastern Federal District – 1,925 thousand sq. m. m (+21.9%);

• Northwestern Federal District – 1,065 thousand sq. m (+11.1%);

• Ural Federal District – 1,702 thousand sq. m. m (+10.8%);

• Siberian Federal District – 9,315 thousand sq. m. m (+4.2%);

• North Caucasian Federal District – 1,223 thousand sq. m. m (+1.4%):

• Southern Federal District – 1,204 thousand sq. m. m (-19.4%);

• Central Federal District – 1,550 thousand sq. m. m (-32.5%).

The share of railway glass supplies to the Russian market in total consumption for 5 months of 2024 was ~20%.
