The Governor of the Novosibirsk Region appreciated the technological advantages of Sibsteklo

Governor of the Novosibirsk Region Andrey Travnikov, who visited the enterprise on a working visit, told about how Siberian Glass LLC (Sibsteklo, the largest manufacturer of glass containers beyond the Urals, an asset of RATM Holding) is increasing its production potential in the current situation.

Thus, the head of the region assessed the possibilities of a new glass melting furnace with a capacity of 375 tons of glass mass per day, which was put into operation last year. A large-scale investment project implemented during the pandemic with the participation of 120 companies, including foreign ones, required more than 1.5 billion rubles. The furnace, one of the largest in the industry, is equipped with five glass-forming machines: three 10-section and two 8-section machines in tandem (there are no more than ten such lines at Russian glass container plants today). Thus, the production of container glass of any type is ensured - 400-450 million units per year. The total productivity of glass complexes has increased by 30% - up to 850 million pieces per year.

“Thanks to the advantages of the new furnace, we started to produce a bottle of green glass,” says Anton Mor, General Director of Sibsteklo. - Previously, no one made such containers outside the Urals - they were supplied here from the European part of the country: approximately 120-130 million units per year. By replacing them with its own products, Sibsteklo maintains the volumes of bottling drinks in the Novosibirsk region.

In addition, according to Anton Mor, they plan to produce a modified NRV bottle (standard brown) on the new furnace - in a super-light version, for local beer brands. Sibstekl specialists developed design solutions to reduce the weight of glass packaging to record levels as part of the Lightest Bottle project, jointly with AB InBev Efes and provided for by the Sustainable Development Agreement with the Ministry of Industry of the Novosibirsk Region.

Andrey Travnikov, calling the results of Sibstekl impressive, noted that one of the financial partners in the construction of the new furnace was the Federal Industry Development Fund.

- We see a complex effect: the enterprise has additional needs for secondary raw materials - cullet, - the head of the region stated. – If today the plant uses 2 thousand tons of cullet every month, and this is a very impressive figure, then in the short term it can reach 4-5 thousand tons without changing the technology. And if you change them, then the demand for recyclables will increase many times over. Accordingly, we are stimulating the reform of MSW management, reducing the amount of waste entering landfills.

According to the President of RATM Holding Eduard Taran, investing in the development of production, Sibsteklo is one of the leaders in the glass industry in Russia:

– Today, the company proves its technological superiority, including through the introduction of innovations. Sibstekl's initiatives are supported by stakeholders - in the industry and investment community, from the executive branch. Despite the challenges of the time, the plant finds ways to increase efficiency: it creates points of intensive growth - optimizes logistics routes, increases the assortment, creates unique offers for partners that contribute to the sustainability of their business - in the broadest sense, as well as strengthening the economy in Siberia.
