Gomelsteklo develops the markets of Hungary and Romania

JSC "Gomelsteklo" is developing the markets of Hungary and Romania, said the general director of the enterprise Petr Maksimchikov.

The General Director emphasized that Gomelsteklo is an export-oriented enterprise. More than 80% of production goes to foreign markets. “The main consumers are the neighboring countries: Ukraine, Poland, Russia, the Baltic countries. We are also entering new directions. For example, we are mastering the markets of Hungary and Romania. In terms of the foreign trade balance, the enterprise has a positive balance: exports are several times higher than imports, "he said.

“The situation that has evolved around the world in connection with the pandemic, unfortunately, has also affected us. But timely measures, plus government assistance to support business, made it possible to get out of this situation with dignity. As of today, we have not only returned some of our clients, but even increased sales, ”stressed Petr Maksimchikov. During the pandemic, both capacities and staff were preserved here, and a stock of products was prepared. “And when our neighboring countries lifted restrictions on quarantine measures, we immediately offered our products,” he added.

The enterprise is fully loaded today. “The most important task now is to improve quality and maximize production volumes,” the head said.

Thanks to the modernization carried out in recent years, innovative products have appeared. According to the head of the special glass section of the industrial processing shop Gennady Astapovich, the section operates lines for the production of laminated glass and coated glass. “The coated glass line is a modern line, the development of new types of products was completed last year. We are talking about multifunctional and sunscreen glass. Plus, since 2016, we have been producing energy-saving glass here. We have reached the maximum productivity, all produced glass is sold. The lines operate around the clock, ”said Gennady Astapovich.

According to the CEO, industrial processing products (energy-saving, multifunctional, sunscreen, laminated, tempered glass) account for 25% of the total production volume, five years ago the share was 5%. “OJSC intends to build up and deepen glass processing. For this, business plans are now being worked out, sources of financing are being sought. I think that in the future this will have a positive effect on production, "- Petr Maksimchikov shared his plans.

He also drew attention to the fact that at the present time, the company notes not only sales growth, but also an increase in wages. “If the average salary in April was Br1020, now it has grown by more than 10% - up to Br1145,” the head of the company said.

The company employs almost 2 thousand people. “The team is close-knit and professional. We do not have such a staff turnover as, perhaps, at other enterprises. People perfectly understand what glass production is. We are constantly in dialogue with the team, we monitor the situation. Fortunately, we were not even touched by inclinations, calls for some kind of strikes. And people say: "We would not have allowed this ourselves." JSC “Gomelsteklo” has prospects. The employees see and appreciate it, ”said Petr Maksimchikov.

Line operator Vladimir Pekhota has been working at Gomelglass for more than 15 years. “The enterprise is stable. Stability means both the salary, which I am happy with, and a powerful team, and competent leadership. There are enough orders, the company is developing, this is the main factor for me, ”he said.

JSC "Gomelsteklo" was founded in 1994 on the basis of the Gomel glass plant named after MV Lomonosov. The production capacity is about 40 million square meters of sheet glass per year.
