GOK Ilmenit will start deliveries of titanium concentrate to TVEL and VSMPO in the coming months

Tugansky Mining and Processing Plant Ilmenit JSC will start shipping titanium-containing concentrate in the coming months, Andrey Kabanov, General Director of the Mining and Processing Plant, told Interfax.

“With reaching the planned capacity, shipments of titanium-containing concentrates from ChMP JSC, VSMPO-Avisma Corporation and other Russian consumers will begin. The enterprise will reach its planned capacity in the coming months,” Andrey Kabanov said.

“The ceremony of the official commissioning of the GOK will take place when the sanitary and epidemiological situation in the region improves,” the director general of the enterprise specified.

He noted that in 2022 it is planned to process 503 thousand tons of ore sands with the planned capacity of the mining and processing plant of 575 thousand tons. According to him, currently the company employs 185 people, with the planned capacity it is expected to increase the number to 240.

The development of the Tugan deposit of ilmenite-zircon sands is carried out at the Yuzhno-Aleksandrovsky site near the village of Malinovka, Tomsk district, Tomsk region. Shipment is made by motor transport.

“If demand for products is confirmed, it is possible to create additional queues as part of the development of the neighboring Kuskovo-Shiryaevsky site in order to increase production capacity to 6.9 million tons of ore sands per year. According to the preliminary plan, this could happen in 2028,” he said. If a decision is made to develop the Kuskovo-Shiryaevsky site, it is planned to build a railway transport and logistics terminal.

JSC Tugan Mining and Processing Plant Ilmenit is a mining enterprise established in September 2002 for the industrial development of the Tugan ilmenite-zircon sands deposit in the Tomsk Region. In May 2021, JSC Atomredmetzoloto joined the project, acquiring 25% minus one share of JSC TGOK Ilmenit with the right to increase the share to a controlling one.
