GC FSK has completed a transaction to acquire Russian assets owned by the Belgian company Sibelco. The assets of Sibelco in Russia are represented by several enterprises: plants for the extraction and processing of quartz glass sands - the Ramensky mining and processing plant in the Moscow region and the Nebolchinsky quarry management in the Novgorod region, the Sibelco Voronezh clay mining and production plant located in the Voronezh region, and also a trading house in St. Petersburg.
“The acquisition of a new asset in the production and processing of sand and clay is an important area of business development for us. Under the conditions of sanctions and import substitution policies, the domestic market for the consumption of these products, according to our estimates, will only grow. In addition, we believe that the presence of new enterprises within the Group will allow us to create an even stronger and more reliable business that does not depend on external factors,” Vladimir Voronin, President of GC FGC, commented on the deal.
The deal was carried out by Pierre Polikarpov's M&A team, which coordinated the acquisition of other assets of the FSK group of companies.
“Sibélco is known for its quality and margin product. This is a promising business for the Russian market and a valuable asset for us,” summed up the head of M&A, Pierre Polikarpov.
Sibélco is an international company that mines, processes and markets specialty industrial minerals, particularly silica, clays, olivine, and is a leader in glass processing.
