FAS will check manufacturers of building materials due to rising prices

The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia will check large manufacturers of building materials. The antimonopoly service gave the corresponding order due to the continuing rise in prices in the construction market and related markets.

"In connection with the continuing rise in prices in the construction market and related markets, FAS Russia instructed its territorial departments to inspect large construction organizations and manufacturers of basic building materials," the ministry said in a statement.

The service added that the FAS authorities will regularly monitor prices for bricks, concrete, wood materials and PVC products.

The announcement of the FAS checks followed the publication of the Rosstat report, according to which the annual growth in consumer prices in June this year accelerated to 6.5%. According to the document, building materials rose in price by 6.7%. The prices for chipboard and edged boards increased the most - by 19.2% and 15.7%, respectively.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a direct line on June 30 that the Russian authorities are taking the necessary steps to stabilize the situation with prices for building materials. According to him, they grew due to changes in the conjuncture for many goods in the world markets.

Thus, the government introduced duties on the export of ferrous and non-ferrous metals outside the EAEU from August 1 to December 31, 2021. Duties on rebar will amount to 15% of the price, but not less than $ 115 per ton, export duties on ferrous scrap - from 45 to 70 euros per ton of products.
