Bor veterans awarded medals in honor of the 75th anniversary of Victory

The ceremonial presentation of commemorative medals in honor of the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War took place in the city of Bor, the press service of the governor and government of the Nizhny Novgorod region said.

The awards were presented by Alexander Mudrov, Deputy Minister of Construction, Alexander Kiselev, Head of the Bor District Administration, and Alexander Fedorov, Chairman of the Bor Veterans Council.

In total, over 1.2 thousand medals were delivered to the territory of the okrug and 20 of them were handed to the rear workers on March 12 at the Oktyabr Central Committee. Similar ceremonies took place in the village council territories. And to those veterans who, for health reasons, cannot take part in them, medals were delivered to their homes.

During the Great Patriotic War, more than 28 thousand wrestlers went to the front, 12 thousand of them did not return from the battlefields. In 1941, boron enterprises were transferred to the production of military products. The Ship Ship factory manufactured artillery equipment and ammunition. Workers at the Borsky Glass Factory mastered the production of ultra-thick glass for aircraft, lighthouses and warships.

At the shipyard of the village of Memory of the Paris Commune, snowmobiles were produced. Women and children sowed fields, participated in the harvesting of peat and forest, and built production buildings of factories. There were 10 hospitals in the district: in a city hospital, in a children's sanatorium and a rest house "Mokhovye Gory", in schools No. 6 and 9, in a cultural enlightenment school.

The well-being of the modern generation is the merit of our veterans. Together with you, we must convey to the young generation the main idea - the feat of the Soviet people on the sidelines of the Great Patriotic War was crucial in the final defeat of fascism. This feat is yours, and thanks to you we all live. We have someone to follow, ”said Alexander Mudrov, addressing the veterans.
