BIM technologies in construction will become mandatory from January 1, 2022

The use of BIM technologies will become mandatory for Russian construction projects with the involvement of budgetary funds from January 1, 2022, follows from the decree signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

BIM (Building Information Modeling) is a technology for the design, construction, operation and repair of buildings, in which, using a digital model, they control all stages of their life cycle by collecting and complex processing of all architectural, design, technological, economic and operational information.

As follows from the decree published on the website of legal information, information modeling will become mandatory for all objects under the state order (except for those created in the interests of defense and security) beyond their cost. Previously, it was assumed that the requirements in the form of BIM technologies will affect the construction of social and sports facilities with an estimated cost of over 500 million rubles.

At the same time, in September 2020, the Prime Minister signed a decree, within the framework of which the rules for the formation and maintenance of the information model, as well as the composition of the information included in it, are approved.
