Association «StekloSouz» of Russia. Meeting on supplying glass factories with raw materials

On September 21, 2023, the Association "StekloSouz" of Russia (hereinafter referred to as SSR) held a meeting on the issues of providing glass factories with raw materials.

The meeting was chaired by Viktor Osipov, President of the Association "StekloSouz" of Russia.

Olga Bobrova, Director of the Raw Materials Department, gave a report on the state of production of raw materials this year and prospects until 2025. In her message, she said that for glass melting furnaces, factories are guaranteed to be fully provided with domestically produced materials. At the same time, it is necessary to pay attention to some mining and processing plants that enrich quartz sands. The cause for concern is the completion of feedstock deposits in the fields.

However, there are new explored deposits in several regions of Russia. It is necessary to attract the attention of investors for the construction of an enterprise for the enrichment of quartz and the supply to factories of the necessary grades of sand necessary for melting high-quality glass used in various sectors of the national economy.

Olga Bobrova drew attention to the rising prices of soda ash and the desire of monopoly entities to unreasonably increase prices for products. She offered to provide comprehensive support to mining and processing plants, whose plans include reconstruction and replacement of equipment.

In the third quarter, an analysis was made of the production and consumption of high-quality dolomite needed by glass factories. The results were sent to mining and processing plants to members of the Association.

At the meeting the following reports were heard from the heads of departments:

- Andrey Gorin, Director of the Department of Flat Glass and Industrial Processing

- Pavel Gorshkov, director of the glass containers department

Reports from heads of other departments were also heard.

Closing the meeting, Viktor Osipov expressed concern about rising prices for soda, transportation, energy, etc.

The analysis shows that growth has reached an average of 33-38%.

Currently, appeals have been sent to the Government of the Russian Federation with a request to pay attention to solving this systemic problem.

Valery Shubin, director of the industry development department, was entrusted with keeping a systematic record of the current situation and preparing information materials for the Government of the Russian Federation and relevant ministries to take proactive measures.

Decisions have been made.
