Association StekloSouz of Russia. Scheduled meeting of the presidium on the state of the glass industry

On July 12, 2023, a scheduled meeting of the presidium was held at the Association "StekloSouz" of Russia (hereinafter referred to as the SSR). The issues of the state of the glass industry following the results of the first half of this year were discussed.

The heads of the specialized services of the SSR made a report. It was noted that, in general, the situation at the plants remains difficult. In some segments, for example, the production of sheet glass, there is a surplus. The export of glass products has sharply decreased. As you know, the glass industry was among the top five exporters, occupying a stable place after the metallurgical and chemical industries.

Decreased investment activity.

Accepting and calculating the challenges, "StekloSouz" decided to create two additional services: heat engineering and refractory.

A lot of work is being done with related industries to provide enterprises with spare parts, chemical products, etc.

Meetings were held with domestic refractory plants, design and construction companies. A joint action plan has been developed and approved. Active work is underway to implement a joint program. Consultations are being conducted on a systematic basis, data are being exchanged on the range of materials production and consumption plans until 2030.

Proposals on the development of production and consumption have been sent to the Government of the Russian Federation. The proposals include specific measures to support glass factories that buy Russian products, including through soft loans, etc.

Measures have been prepared to improve the system of education and training of young specialists, the participation of factories in the coordination of training programs under the leadership of the "StekloSouz" of Russia.

Proposals and justifications for the creation of a comprehensive scientific and technical project have been prepared. Consultations and collection of information on the capabilities of industry research institutes and design organizations are underway. A full picture of the state will be completed in the third quarter of 2023. The results of the research will be applied in production processes.

The Presidium approved the proposals for the ES.

The meeting was chaired by Viktor Osipov, President of the Association "StekloSouz" of Russia.

Decisions were made, including the creation of an industry development center.
