Association «StekloSouz» of Russia. Planned meeting of the presidium

On March 16, 2021, the Presidium, a scheduled meeting, was held at the "StekloSouz" Association of Russia.

The issues of the development of the export of glass products, projects of interstate standards, the supply of cullet, the implementation of energy-saving technologies, the work of the technical committees of the industry and other topics were discussed.

The meeting was opened by Viktor Osipov, President of the "StekloSouz" Association of Russia. He reported on the results of the work of the glass industry for 2020. In general, the industry has retained production volumes. However, the year was difficult for well-known reasons. Viktor Osipov in figures showed the work of several segments:

- sheet glass (produced ~ 240 million m2);

- glass containers (14.6 billion pieces);

- medical glass (growth by 2019 amounted to 2.6%);

- varietal tableware (growth amounted to 0.15% by 2019);

- foam glass (50% growth to the level of 2019);

- lighting glass (production remained at the level of 2019);

- fiberglass (growth 2.2% by 2019);

- industrial processing of flat glass (decreased by 5-7% to the level of 2019).

The rest of the segments have a stable position at the level of 2018-2020.

According to EU statistics, the Russian glass industry is one of the five in terms of exports to EU countries.

Viktor Osipov proposed in 2021 to pay special attention to the export of glass products and certification. He said that the European Union is introducing a carbon tax, including on glass. At present, the Associations of several industries, together with the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, have completed work on asserting their rights within the framework of international cooperation on violations of the requirements of International Law upon the introduction of the specified tax burden.

Simultaneous Viktor Osipov proposed to carry out systematic work to improve their own production. Look for additional opportunities that affect the competitiveness of factories, including profitability.

Nikolay Talakuev, Director of the Department of Technical Regulation and Quality Control spoke about the work on the projects of Interstate Standards, which will contribute to the successful development of enterprises. He proposed to improve work with industry TCs at the level of the Eurasian Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification (EASC).

Decisions were made to develop collection and supplies for re-melting of cullet. Continue work on the creation of Representative Offices of the "StekloSouz" Association of Russia in the federal districts of the Russian Federation Rely on the experience of the Representative Office of "StekloSouz" in the South and North Caucasian Federal Districts. It became necessary to create a "Catalog of manufacturers", indicating the registered trademarks to improve work with consumers of glass products.

We decided to continue working with companies offering new technological methods for processing cullet into finished raw materials for glass factories.

Decisions were also made on other problematic issues.
