Association «StekloSouz» of Russia. Scheduled meeting of the interdepartmental commission on EPR issues

On July 8, 2024, the Association "StekloSouz" of Russia (hereinafter SSR) held a scheduled meeting of the interdepartmental commission on EPR issues.

Problematic topics regarding the inclusion of glass factories in the register of recyclers were discussed.

"StekloSouz" of Russia recommended including the enterprises in the register. However, Rosprirodnadzor did not give a positive conclusion to a number of glass factories to receive the “recycler” status.

Currently, unscheduled joint consultations have been held on this issue between the heads of specialized departments of the USSR and the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources. Ways to solve this problematic economically important issue for the glass industry are outlined.

The second issue was a discussion of the Action Program for organizing separate collection of cullet in the territories of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.

As you know, this issue has been raised regularly at various levels of government, but, unfortunately, it is being poorly resolved.

Valentina Matvienko, Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, spoke about the state of the decision on environmental reform in July 2024 at a meeting of the Federation Council. Valentina Matvienko directly stated that the reform was “failed.”

The Interdepartmental Working Group (WG) has prepared a Program to overcome problems in organizing the joint collection of recycled glass cullet for subsequent smelting at glass factories.

At joint consultations with the leaders of the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources, proposals were outlined that found understanding. The work will continue.

The meeting of the interdepartmental commission was chaired by Viktor Osipov, President of the Association "StekloSouz" of Russia. Closing the meeting, he proposed to include representatives of other relevant ministries and departments in the Working Group to continue working together to solve important problems that directly affect the economic situation of glass factories in Russia.
