Association «StekloSouz» of Russia at the All-Russian Environmental Forum

On October 12, 2023, the All-Russian Environmental Forum took place.

The main issues of discussion were the problems of improving the extended producer responsibility (EPR) mechanism.

As you know, in the second half of 2023, a new federal law (FL) was adopted, according to which companies planning to recycle packaging themselves will have to pay an environmental fee. At the same time, many questions arise regarding the implementation of the new EPR mechanism, prospects for implementation and predicted results, as well as the reaction of the industry community to innovations.

Other important topics necessary for the development of a circular economy were discussed - concessions and investments.

The speakers paid special attention to the financial instruments of the waste management industry, which will allow creating the necessary infrastructure for the successful implementation of the Federal Law.

In the opinion of many Forum participants, concession agreements are a good investment mechanism that respects the interests of the investor, the public party and the financing organization.

This tool can become a supporting structure for attracting funding for the development and improvement of waste management.

During the Forum, the conditions for concluding concession agreements, support for regions, as well as concessions as a guarantee of stability and efficiency in the implementation of infrastructure projects were discussed.

The forum was chaired by Victoria Abramchenko, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation.

Alexey Savin, Chairman of the SSR Ecology Committee, took part in the Forum discussion from the Association "StekloSouz" of Russia.

As a result of the meeting, a number of important decisions were made for discussion in industry communities.

Continuation of the discussion work on the implementation of the decisions made at this global state event will be continued at the 24th annual Forum “Glass and Modern Technologies - XXI”, which will be held on November 30, 2023 at the Russian Chemical Technology University named after. D. Mendeleev at the address: Moscow, Miusskaya Square, 9, Big Assembly Hall (entrance from 1st Miusskaya Street, 3 / checkpoint).

The decisions made will be sent by the Association "StekloSouz" of Russia to the Government of the Russian Federation to defend the interests of the glass industry.
