Association «StekloSouz» of Russia. Business program at Wasma 2022

In the second decade of March, the international exhibition of equipment and technologies for processing, recycling and wastewater treatment - Wasma - ended.

The Association StekloSouz of Russia took an active part in the business program of the exhibition. StekloSouz was presented by Alexey Savin, Chairman of the Ecology Committee.

At plenary sessions and conferences held within the framework of the exhibition, the main task of municipal solid waste management was discussed, which is an integrated waste management system to attract investors and create a market for professional players in the industry. Questions were discussed:

• What problems have arisen now in the implementation of investment projects?

• What should investors do in the face of deteriorating macroeconomic conditions?

• What support measures are demanded in the market by investors?

• What are the expectations from funders?

The conferences held by Wasma became a logical continuation of the joint work with the Government of the Russian Federation, the main goal of which is the creation of an integrated system for handling production and consumption waste, based on the principles of a circular economy. In 2022, it is planned to place mobile and stationary collection points for secondary resources, vending machines, organize separate collection in settlements and remote areas, awareness-raising and educational campaigns, as well as activities aimed at developing the recycling of secondary resources.

The issue of the UTILIZER status is being worked out in the new Federal Law on "Secondary Material Resources" (SMR), which is currently undergoing legal examination and elaboration in the Office of the Government of the Russian Federation. The position of the PIC "REO" on this issue was noted, namely, the return of pre-prepared (processed) glass packaging waste to the production cycle. Enterprises that have received the status of UTILIZER, thanks to the received EPR subsidies, will be stimulated to expand the responsible approach to selective waste collection, including glass.
