Administration of the Tomsk region and "Sibsteklo" agreed on cooperation

Dear colleagues, we are publishing news about a member of the Association "StekloSouz" of Russia LLC Siberian Glass (Sibsteklo):

Within the framework of the XXVI St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the Administration of the Tomsk Region and Siberian Glass LLC (Sibsteklo, one of the leaders in the glass container market in Russia, the largest glass waste disposal plant beyond the Urals, an asset of RATM Holding) announced their intention to cooperate on projects that reduce the negative impact on the environment, contribute to the involvement of secondary resources in economic circulation and the development of infrastructure for the industrial processing of municipal solid waste.

The Parties will make efforts to create conditions for the formation of a system for the separate collection and disposal of MSW, including waste glass (cullet), the introduction of innovations that reduce the cost of non-renewable natural resources in production. The interaction assumes that by the end of 2024 the share of recycled materials in the manufacture of glass containers used in supply chains in the Tomsk region will reach at least 40%, which will reduce the technogenic impact on the ecosystem. The agreements will be fixed in an agreement and a roadmap, and their preparation will begin in the near future.

- Separate collection and involvement in circulation of valuable secondary raw materials is one of our priorities both in ecology and in the economy, - said Vladimir Mazur, Governor of the Tomsk Region. – I am glad that in this work we find partners in neighboring Siberian regions, which makes cooperation ties even more profitable.

“By combining the capabilities of business and executive authorities of the constituent entity of the Federation, which has a strong research potential, we will ensure the application of the best environmental management practices, along with the high quality of investment decisions,” comments Eduard Taran, President of RATM Holding. - The processes of greening economic activity should be set in motion with the help of stimulating economic mechanisms, that is, to increase the commercial efficiency of enterprises. Only in this way will positive and sustainable changes associated with socially significant indicators of the national project "Ecology" be achieved.

Recall that Sibstekla already has experience of participating in the collection of MSW in Tomsk: together with the regional operator for the treatment of MSW in the Tomsk Region, 250 containers for selective waste collection were placed in the city. All of them went to the waste sorting plant, then the glass fractions were sent to Sibstekla. Currently, the plant is ready to implement a similar format in other regions.
