Transparent wood in the future can replace glass
Previously, in order for the wood to become transparent, it was boiled in a bleaching solution, but this method had many drawbacks and polluted the environment. For more efficient destruction of lignin fibers, wood is first steamed with hydrogen peroxide, and then poured with a transparent resin. As a result, the material becomes not only transparent, but also more durable.
Now, experts will have to check the mechanical properties of transparent wood in real conditions. If the material successfully passes all the tests, in some areas it can replace glass, for example, in the construction of greenhouses. Thanks to the introduction of new technologies, scientists manage to impart new properties to various materials. So, American experts turned the metal into an analogue of wood.
