The technical isolation segment is growing and saturated with manufacturers.

Positive dynamics in the technical isolation segment has been observed for the last two years. The growth rate of this segment is increasing: in 2017, the increase was 3%, and in 2018 - already 5%. Today, the volume of the segment in monetary terms reached 10.8 billion rubles.

“Positive trends in the technical isolation segment are associated with the restoration of the construction sector and large investment projects, such as the reconstruction of several NPPs in the central region, the modernization of a number of hydropower plants and thermal power plants, and the construction of oil and gas pipelines. The development of enterprises of ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy and the chemical industry plays an important role, ”commented Vasily Tkachev, head of the Mineral Isolation direction at TECHNONICOL.

The segment of technical insulation based on stone wool and fiberglass shows even greater success - here the consumption in monetary terms increased by 8% over the past year. The share of stone and glass wool in the total supply of technical insulation also increases: if in 2013 it was 65%, then by 2019 it reached 78%. At the same time, production exceeds consumption. The technical isolation segment remains one of the most saturated: more than 40 manufacturers work here. The segment structure is fairly stable over the past few years due to the average level of consolidation and the fact that each of the manufacturers has specialization in certain products, both by type of material and by design.

Due to the growing consumption of TECHNONICOL due to a new line at the plant in Chelyabinsk, it intends to strengthen its presence in the technical insulation segment and increase the output of roll products, including the start of production of mats in accordance with GOST 21880-2011. The design capacity of the new line will be 270 thousand cubic meters. m annually.

Over the next 5 years, we can predict a gradual increase in the consumption of technical stone and glass wool insulation in monetary terms, an average of 1-2% annually. It will continue due to demand from construction companies, modernization and repair of utility networks and the planned re-equipment of industrial enterprises. According to Vasily Tkachev, the existing volume of production allows not only to satisfy domestic demand, but also to actively develop the export of this type of product. The expert also stressed that the company does not see the prerequisites for increasing the production of technical insulation inside the home region.
