Restoration of chandeliers of the Northern River Station in Moscow is planned to be completed in 2020

"There are about 500 lighting fixtures in the restoration workshops. Most of the work on them has already been completed. It is planned that the chandeliers will return to their historic place next year <...> Since the station itself is an object of cultural heritage of regional importance, all the works are under control experts Mosgornaslediya ", - said in a statement.

As the head of Mosgornaslediya Alexey Emelyanov specified, the restoration of the chandeliers began in 2018 and is now 80% complete. About half of the 500 lighting devices were recreated, since the emergency condition of the materials did not allow them to be restored. In the workshops, the chandeliers cleaned, fixed the deformed metal parts, fixed the cracks, strengthened the structures, replaced the electrical wiring and the broken ceiling lamps, recreated the missing elements. Glass for chandeliers was specially ordered at a glass factory in Penza.

The most laborious was the work on the largest chandelier of the station, which weighs more than 50 kg. Her whole structure was bent. "When the lighting fixtures dismantled <...> the restorers found a warehouse in the building with boxes in which the original original ceiling lamps were well preserved. They were used to replace the damaged ones, thus all the chandeliers on the historic chandelier," added Yemelyanov.

Earlier it was reported that the authorities of the capital plan to open a museum in the building of the Northern River Station after its restoration, while the station will retain its transport function. Restoration work began there at the end of 2018, and it is planned to return the historical look to the building in 2020.
