In 1973, after graduating from graduate school at the State Scientific Research Institute of Glass (GIS), he defended his thesis.

From 1969 to 1982, he consecutively held positions in GIS: Senior Researcher, Head of Sector, Head of Laboratory. At this time, the sphere of his scientific interests was the development of technical sitalls with desired properties, cement-resistant glass compositions. Under his scientific leadership, he developed formulations of chemically-resistant glass for the vitrification of metal pipes used by the Tatneft association in oil production. For recent work, a team of authors was awarded the State Prize of the USSR.

In 1982, Pavlushkin M.N. He was appointed Head of the Bureau of Design and Technical Assistance of the State Scientific and Research Institute of Glass (PCB GIS). Under his leadership and direct participation, molten tin baths were designed and implemented in the new polished glass lines at the Avtosteklo plant (Republic of Ukraine). Salavatsky plant of technical glass (RF), Tokmak glass factory (Republic of Kyrgyzstan). Pavlushkin M.N., developed with his participation and the VA-350 glass mix mixer introduced into the glass industry. He was awarded the honorary sign "Inventor of the USSR".

In 1988 Pavlushkin M.N. appointed Deputy Head of the Main Directorate for the Glass and Non-Metallurgical Industry (Glavsteklonemetallorud) of the USSR Ministry of Construction and Materials. His responsibilities included directing research institutes in the glass industry, supervising the creation and production of fiber-optic communication systems.

In August 1991, Pavlushkin M.N. transferred to work in the Soyuzsteklomash Research and Production Association as deputy general director for new equipment, and in January 1995 he was elected general director of Soyuzsteklomash OJSC. Under his leadership, work is being completed on the design and manufacture of equipment for the largest polished glass line in Europe, the Gomel glass factory (Republic of Belarus) and in December 1996 its successful commissioning.

Under the leadership of Mikhail Nikolayevich, the following have been developed and implemented in the glass industry: a wide-plate charge loader for large-scale production; charge mixers with a capacity of 750, 1500 and 2250 l .; equipment for processing the edges of the glass and removing facet; machines for double-sided drilling of sheet glass; machines for curvilinear processing of edges and facet; 2-section automatic machine for the production of narrow-mouth and wide-mouth glass containers.

Pavlushkin M.N. the author of more than 100 scientific works, including 50 copyright certificates and patents of the Russian Federation, has the academic title of senior researcher. Pavlushkin M.N. is a member of the editorial board of the magazine "Glass and ceramics". His services to the country are marked by government awards.
