200 works of Soviet glassmakers will be shown in the Museum-Reserve «Tsaritsyno»

On March 18, the exhibition "On the Verge. The Art of Cutting and Engraving Glass". 200 original works of Russian glassmakers of the 20th century were selected for it. Some of the items have never been exhibited. Another 200 fragile works remain in the depository.

At the exhibition you can see engravings by artists of the Moscow and Leningrad schools. For example, the dish "Nika" by Adolf Kurilov and the composition "Song of the First" by Yuri Byakov were created in the Soviet period. In a separate room are works by contemporary artists. "Angel" by Elena Lavrishcheva and Vladimir Makovetsky consists of five blocks of optical glass mounted on a slowly rotating black glass disk.

From the museum's depository, the exhibits moved to specially created for the exhibition radius showcases with multi-point illumination. Such an arrangement allows the best possible presentation of glass and crystal works, preserving the author's intention for the viewer without distortion, and emphasizing optical and color effects.

The exhibited items were created at the Leningrad, Dyatkovo, Gusevsky, Borisov, Nikolsko-Bakhmetevsky crystal factories. Today in Russia there is only one enterprise, which is classified as an expensive glass production. This is the Gusevsky Crystal Factory named after Akim Maltsov, which arose in the 18th century. in the city of Gus-Khrustalny between Moscow and Vladimir. The so-called "Maltsov facet" became known outside of Russia.

The exhibition will run until the end of summer 2024.
