Over 23,000 tons of glass in the Moscow region have been sent for recycling since the beginning of the year

Nine Moscow Region waste processing complexes have collected over 23,000 tons of glass since the beginning of the year. This is one thousand tons more than in the same period last year.

According to the Moscow Region Ministry for Territorial Maintenance and State Housing Supervision, glass is processed in several stages. First, lids, corks and other foreign objects are separated from it, then it is sent for cleaning, washed, dried, melted down and turned into new products.

Waste processing plants collect either only transparent or only green containers. Some plants require the entire range of colors.

“Recycled glass is used, for example, in the production of building materials. Glass is also used in the manufacture of food containers - bottles and cans,” the department added.
