In the tourist center of Europe built a house of glass

In the Czech city of Novi Bor, the tourist center of Europe, a transparent glass house was built and wooden buildings of the 19th century were restored for the headquarters of Lasvit, a design lighting company.

The building is covered with transparent glass tiles (there are 1400 in total) and connects two renovated offices. On the ground floor there is a cafe, a conference room and a library. In the future, the construction can be used for other purposes.

In addition, there is a four-story extension, which is designed in the style of neighboring houses and is covered with a black metal plate. The room is used for heavy chandeliers and light sculptures, the weight of which can reach five tons.

Novi Bor is known for its ancient glassmaking technology. Based on the cultural and historical heritage, Lasvit wanted to give the building a modern form and convey the individual style of the brand.

As the author of the project explained, the combination of glass and light formed the basis of the architectural creation. The reconstruction of classical buildings of the XIX century was supplemented by the construction of symmetrical structures, which ultimately was combined into a harmonious and functional whole.
