Russia's only enterprise for the production of glass balls launched in Dagestan

A plant for the production of balls for the manufacture of fiberglass, which has no analogues in Russia, was launched on the territory of the Dagestan glass container enterprise in the city of Dagestan Lights, said Patakhudin Magomedov, general director of the enterprise.

“The new enterprise will produce import-substituting products for the production of glass fiber. Today, such balloons are not produced in Russia and the post-Soviet space. Therefore, given the latest developments, this project is in great demand for the industry of the Russian Federation,” Magomedov said.

According to him, the first products are planned to be received in June this year. Raw materials for the manufacture of balls were purchased in the Far East and in the Moscow region. “Practically all raw materials will be received from the territory of the Russian Federation,” Magomedov noted.

The enterprise of glass spheres "Kaspiy glass" is a resident of the territory of advanced development of the city of Dagestanskiye Ogni. A loan from the Regional Industry Development Fund in the amount of 50 million rubles was allocated for the construction of a ball manufacturing plant. The total investment amounted to 215 million rubles.

Development plans

The plant plans to increase production capacity by 1.5 times by the end of 2023 thanks to the construction of a new workshop. The laying of the first stone of the modernized glass container workshop took place on Thursday.

“If we do not modernize our existing capacities, then in 10 years we will be left somewhere behind. Therefore, a decision was made today to modernize the plant, install modern lines, and at the same pace in a few years we will supply even more modern lines and move away from old equipment. <...> According to the plan, we will complete the construction of the workshop in 15 months, that is, in May-June next year, we should receive the first products,” Magomedov said.

It is planned to spend about 1.6 billion rubles on the construction of the renovated workshop, 20% of which - own funds, 80% - under the target loan agreement of the Industrial Development Fund under the guarantee of VTB Bank to ensure the fulfillment of the company's obligations. The investment project will create up to 200 new jobs for city residents.

“Supporting the project, we are guided not only by its economic feasibility, but also by the high social significance of the company. The well-being of the inhabitants of one of the two single-industry towns of the Republic of Dagestan Lights largely depends on its stable development. Moreover, as one of the largest industrial enterprises in the region, Dagestan Glass Packaging helps to reduce unemployment and develop the economy of the entire Dagestan,” said Alexander Dyrenko, manager of VTB Bank in the North Caucasus Federal District.

The Dagestan glass container plant is an enterprise of the Dagestan Lights monotown, which is a major supplier of glass containers in the North Caucasus Federal District, 70-75% of its products are sold on the domestic market, 25-30% are exported. The volume of shipped goods in 2021 amounted to 60 thousand tons of glass containers. By order of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, the products manufactured by the enterprise are included in the plan for import substitution in the industry of building materials and building structures until 2025.
