BSTU has developed a technology for processing mixed polymer waste

Employees of the Department of Mechanics and Design of the Belarusian State Technological University have developed a technology for processing mixed polymer-containing waste, BelTA learned from the university.

The technology complies with international standards and ensures the deep processing of municipal solid waste that is difficult to recycle using traditional methods. The proposed production line provides for the maximum involvement of MSW in the production of a wide range of marketable products, can be flexibly translated into various raw materials, materials and tasks. The assortment includes various products for paving and terrain decoration (tiles, borders, storm drains, pallets).

The development was presented to specialists of the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services. University rector Igor Voitov proposed to implement a pilot project at one of the processing enterprises in the industry. A processing plant in Novopolotsk was chosen as a partner for testing. In the near future, representatives of the university will leave for Novopolotsk to determine the scope of work on the spot.

Scientists also presented to the representatives of the Ministry a project for the processing of cullet and the production of promising building materials with high added value (in particular granular foam glass), a promising technology for the use of granite screenings produced in a quarry in Mikashevichi in water treatment and water treatment.

According to the Community Literacy Portal, about 200 thousand tons of polymer waste is generated annually in Belarus, of which only 20-25% is recycled.
