The first plant for the production of flat glass for 100 million euros launched in Azerbaijan

On Monday, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev took part in the opening ceremony of a plant for the production of glass sheets by the method of thermoforming of the AzerFloat company in the territory of the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park (SHPP).

The head of state was informed that investments in the enterprise amounted to 100 million euros. The plant will annually produce 80 thousand tons of sheet glass of various assortments. This is the first enterprise of this type in Azerbaijan.

The design and equipment of the plant was carried out by the German company "HORN Glass Industries AG". The company also uses Italian, Finnish and Czech technologies.

The AzerFloat plant is the first enterprise in Azerbaijan for the production of glass sheets by thermoforming. Until today, all the country's needs have been met through imports.

In December 2014 AzerFloat became a resident of the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park.

The SHPP was created to create favorable conditions in Azerbaijan for the development of competitive industrial production based on innovative and high technologies, support for entrepreneurship in this area, ensure sustainable development of the non-oil sector and increase employment in the manufacturing sector.

On the territory of the industrial park, enterprises for the production of competitive products (works, services), refineries in the petrochemical and other priority industries are operating and are being created.

In general, the residents of the park must invest $ 3.1 billion in projects.Currently, they have actually invested $ 2.9 billion; at the next stage, another $ 245 million will be invested.
