Media: The Ministry of Industry and Trade conducted an experiment on the reception of used containers in stores

The implementation of the project is hampered by the accepted sanitary standards, according to which it is impossible to take recyclables at retail outlets.

By 2020, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will conduct an experiment according to which used cans and bottles will be accepted in stores. This was reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the department.

The ministry prepared this project at the request of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. By the end of the year, it is planned to determine the list of recyclables suitable for mass collection and processing, and to make appropriate amendments to the legislation.

The main obstacle to its implementation at the moment is the current SanPiNs, according to which it is not possible to arrange points for the reception of used containers in stores.

In April this year, deputies proposed that supermarkets be ordered to accept glass containers. In May, it was reported that the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Ministry of Economic Development will work on the issue of resuming the delivery of used bottles to stores.
