The “Collector” project will be able to accept up to 100 types of waste

At the beginning of 2020, a separate waste collection program was launched in Moscow. For this, more than 22 thousand container sites have been arranged in the city, where over 60 thousand containers have been installed for separate collection of waste - for mixed waste and for waste that can be sent for recycling.

The organizers of the “Collector” project, which collects things for the needy and collects waste, recommended that the townspeople take the main types of recyclables into garbage bins near the house.

“We are grateful to the government that they began to talk more about separate collection, and even there are attempts to introduce a dual-container system. They help us. We ourselves constantly say that residents should hand in the most popular types of recyclables (waste paper, paper, glass, metal) in tanks near the house. And it’s already for us that it’s impossible to turn in anywhere, ”the project organizers say.

In February, the “Collector” opens a new environmental center on the Caucasian boulevard of the capital. The environmental center was located closer to the warehouse in order to reduce the cost of transporting waste.

The new collection point will allow you to accept up to 100 categories of waste for recycling, now there are only 42 of them. Thanks to the expansion, the Useful Store area, where ecological products are sold, as well as the recyclable material collection area, will significantly increase. After the opening of the new eco-center, a volunteer day will be held with a guided tour and detailed instruction on the proper collection of recyclables.

“The Collector” is a project of the Moscow branch of the “Separate Collection” movement, which is based on a volunteer movement that addresses the problem of waste and develops a culture of responsible consumption using business tools to solve environmental problems. Now the movement has several thousand volunteers and tens of thousands of followers.

In 2019, the “Collector” sent 231 tons of glass, 197 tons of waste paper and 104 tons of equipment for processing, the total mass of recycled materials exceeded 600 tons.
