On July 30, Tomsk scientists and production workers presented a new recirculator for air disinfection to the Governor of the Tomsk Region, S. A. Zhvachkin, based on an exciplex lamp developed by Tomsk scientists, which provides new opportunities for fighting viruses.

The path to a new device from an idea to a serial sample is always difficult. In order to create a real product for the task set by the Governor, it was necessary to involve specialists - lamp-lamps. Therefore, the head of the Tomsk Consortium, Grigory Pavlovich Kazmin, held a meeting with the participation of the Tomsk Electric Lamp Plant. As a result of the interaction of scientists from the Institute of High Current Electronics of the SB RAS, the general manufacturer of the recirculator NPTs "Polyus" (General Director Sergei Aleksandrovich Rusanovsky), it was determined that the lamp for the new device will be manufactured by the Tomsk Electric Lamp Plant (LEADlight Group - President - Vladislav Vladimirovich Golubev), which has the competencies work with quartz glass, special gases and other intricacies of electric lamp production. Thanks to the active interaction of Production and Science under the control of the developer Sosnin Eduard Anatolyevich, a working prototype of the device was created in just 3 months and is now preparing for serial production!

The advantage of the new Tomsk anti-virus lamp, in contrast to the widespread mercury lamps, is the ability to destroy not only bacteria, but also many known types of viruses and fungi. This advantage is achieved by emitting a harder ultraviolet spectrum with a wavelength of 222 nanometers. Compactness in size and complete absence of mercury makes the lamp convenient to use and environmentally friendly.
