About new waste management initiatives by enterprises in the Russian Federation

A press conference was held in TASS (Novosibirsk) in the format of the Novosibirsk-Moscow-St. Petersburg television bridge, dedicated to reforming the institute of extended responsibility of manufacturers and importers for the disposal of containers manufactured or used by them.

Oleg Sherstoboev, a lawyer, head of the department of the Novosibirsk State University of Economics and Management, characterized from a legal point of view a document within the framework of which the institution of expanded responsibility of manufacturers and importers is being reformed.

Manufacturers of products and packaging advocate for the independent implementation of the initiative of the Government of the Russian Federation on the extended responsibility of the manufacturer in terms of packaging disposal, said Lyubov Melanevskaya, executive director of the Industry for the Environment Association.

The head of cooperation with authorities in the Urals, Siberia and the Far East of Coca-Cola HBC Russia Anton Kaltygin noted that the independent implementation of extended responsibility allows the company in Russia, as in other countries, to understand the volumes of collection and processing of released packaging.

The fact that Russian glassworks during the implementation of the reform will be forced to increase their costs of production was announced by the Director General of Siberian Glass LLC Pavel Boboshik. The leading specialist in public relations and sustainable development of Baltika, Natalya Rzhevskaya, said that the company considers it necessary to maintain the ability to independently fulfill the extended responsibility of the manufacturer gradually, increasing the recycling rate to 100% over the course of several years.

Information about the implementation of the separate waste collection system in Novosibirsk was shared by the head of Tiger-Siberia, a company for processing municipal solid waste, Kirill Riterman.
