Nikolsky Museum of Glass and Crystal is preparing for the 230th anniversary

This year, the St. Nicholas Museum of Glass and Crystal marks 230 years. The upcoming round date is dedicated to several new exhibitions from the series “Priceless Collection”.

So, one of them is “Contemporary world art glass in the museum’s collection”. This exhibition brings together exhibits made by hands of foreign authors who visited Nikolsk at famous symposia. Among them - Marta Gibite (Latvia), Jiri Sugaek (Czech Republic), Kazimierz Pavljak (Poland).

The Nikolsky Museum has a rich history, and it has been created, including in recent years and decades. So, a cultural object, which once occupied two small halls in a factory office, has now settled in a modern two-story building. And how else to place an impressive collection of exhibits! Today it has more than 13.5 thousand units.

Until 2005, the museum was part of the Red Giant factory, and then passed into the jurisdiction of the Penza Regional Art Gallery. K.A. Savitsky, becoming its branch.

- In 2006, 2009, 2011, on the basis of glass enterprises operating in Nikolsk, international symposia on blown glass were held. The initiator and organizer of the symposia was Nikolai artist Alexander Fokin, whose work of authorship over the years has become an integral part of the museum’s collection, the press service of the regional government said.

The donated works of the symposium participants made up a separate collection.
