Kavdolomit: We are ready to continue to increase production volumes

Kavdolomit is the main Russian dolomite exporter in Europe. It provides material to the leading glass industry enterprises in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. The company is developing and is ready to increase production, but has recently encountered problems.

When a four to five meter thick dolomite layer is uncovered, dozens of wells are drilled in the rock. They lay explosives in them. Further escalators deliver the wreckage to the workshops. The process of grinding the rocks begins. It consists of several stages. The main crushing takes place here. The average size of a stone is one cubic meter. Before starting the process, the mineral is cleaned of dirt and clay. The purity of the material is important.

“400 tons pass in an hour. We have 9 people crushers. They work at two processing units - crushing. For this purpose, we have two equipment that allows us to grind dolomite to the desired shape ... ”, shared the chief engineer of Kavdolomit OJSC Dzambolat Makeev.

On the second crusher, the size of the stone is several times smaller. The maximum length is 25 centimeters. Everything is brought to automatism. An hour passes 120 tons of stone. Then the processed material is transported to the workshop, which is located on the outskirts of Vladikavkaz. The next stage begins there.

From huge dolomite blocks, crumbs and powder are obtained. It is used in glass production, construction of buildings, structures and roads. The Kavdolomit enterprise provides the materials to the leading glass industry enterprises in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. The company notes: they are ready to continue to increase production volumes. But there is a problem: a significant increase in the cost of renting cars for dolomite transportation. This leads to more expensive products and lower competitiveness.

“We are trying to help through the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, through the Ministry of Economic Development in order to receive any subsidies for delivery on the Russian Railways. In order for the Cavdolomite to breathe. It is important to reduce the load from them. Here, the number of workers increased, production was modernized, since the product is in demand and very high quality. He is loved in the central part of Russia, ”said the Minister of Industry and Transport of North Ossetia-Alania Khaidarbek Butov.

Now the company employs about a hundred people, the fleet is completely updated. A finished goods warehouse and a loading complex for mineral wagons were built. And in the workshop for the production of dolomite flour there is a dust collection system. It collects up to 99% of harmful emissions into the atmosphere. They hope for the enterprise: if the problem with the cost of rent for the transportation of dolomite is solved, they will reach a new level of production.
