1). Glass industry of the region in numbers

Glass workers celebrate their professional holiday on November 19. This date was not chosen by chance: that day the great Russian scientist Mikhail Lomonosov (1711-1765) was born, who was the creator of the chemical production of glaze, glass, porcelain in Russia. For the Vladimir region, the production of glass and glass products is one of the leading types of economic activity and a subject of special pride. The products of the masters from Gus-Khrustalny are known not only in Russia, but also far beyond the borders of our country.

2). Contribution to the All-Russian Issue

In the total Russian volume of glass products, Vladimir enterprises account for almost 10 percent.

3). Production volumes

In region-33, the share of the glass industry in the total volume of shipped products of enterprises engaged in the production of non-metallic mineral products is more than 73%.

In monetary terms, the volume of shipped glass production goods for 10 months of 2019 amounted to 20.8 billion rubles, which is 16.3 percent more than for the corresponding period of the previous year.

The production index in January-October 2019 compared to the corresponding period of 2018 amounted to 105.4 percent, which indicates a positive trend in the development of the industry.

4). In workshops and at home

In the Vladimir region, 53 legal entities and 5 separate divisions are registered, the parent organizations of which are located in other regions, for the production of glass and glass products. 20 enterprises (34%) are registered in the city of Gus-Khrustalny and Gus-Khrustalny district.

33 individual entrepreneurs (almost half of them are Gusevsk citizens) declared during the state registration the main type of economic activity “Production of glass and glass products”. As a rule, they carry out the artistic processing of glass and glass products.

5). Depreciation and Update

More than 12% of the region’s basic production assets among industrial types of activities amounting to 32.7 billion rubles are concentrated at enterprises in this industry. Depreciation of fixed assets of the industry is 42.7% - this is less than the average for manufacturing (48.4%). But the update rate is quite low - 3.4 percent with an average of 8.5%.

In 2018, 1,134.8 million rubles of investments were used to develop the production of glass and glass products from it (about 5% of the volume of investments made in the industry of the region). Moreover, for 9 months of 2019 - 3.8 times more than for the corresponding period of the previous year.

6). Employment and Salary

The production of glass and glass products employs more than 6 thousand people - 5.4% of the average number of workers in the manufacturing sector of the region. The average monthly salary for 9 months of 2019 amounted to 34,603 rubles, which amounted to 99% of the average for manufacturing.

7). More cans, fewer bottles

In terms of value in the production of glass and glass products, the leading place belongs to manufacturers of hollow glass products: bottles, glasses, wine glasses, wineglasses, glasses, cups and other containers and household products made of glass or crystal. Compared to last year, the largest growth was seen in the production of specially processed flat glass (139.9%), glassware for pharmaceutical activities (124.2%) and glass jars (123.7%). The most declining volumes were the production of raw sheet glass and glass bottles: 97.3 and 97.4, respectively.
