Glass Worker Day!

November 19th is the Day of the Glass Worker!

This date was chosen in honor of Mikhail Vasilievich Lomonosov (11/19/1711-15.04.1765), a brilliant Russian scientist, poet, enlightener, one of the most outstanding luminaries of world science, statesman and public figure.

Mikhail Vasilievich Lomonosov wrote:

“... I sing praise before you in delight

Not expensive stones, not gold, but Glass ... "

("Letter on the Use of Glass")

This is how the luminary of world science expressed the value of wonderful material for mankind, so he showed the role and significance of people who can give the world glass. Mikhail Vasilievich was the creator of the chemical production of glaze, glass, and porcelain. He developed the technology and formulation of colored glasses - smalt (pieces of a homogeneous opaque mixture of glass and metal oxides), which he used to create mosaic paintings.

Today we produce glass for all sectors of the national economy of Russia: military-industrial, construction, agricultural complexes, electronic, instrument-making, transport, furniture industries and many other segments, at the macroeconomic level.

Modern society cannot exist without our glassmaking profession.

We, dear comrades, are creating the wonders of civilization. Is it possible to imagine the modern world without glass? Any person without hesitation, with great gratitude, will answer no.

We need our holiday, it gives us an incentive - to carry out a scientific search with new energy, develop new technologies and implement new projects for our consumers.

We, like all creative people, are always in search of new ideas and suggestions for the glass market. Time shows that for us there are no unsolvable problems, in spite of any economic and political upheavals in the state.

Our huge team, harmoniously developing science and production, successfully using world practice, has proved to the world that it is capable of self-development and achieving its goals.

Today we are faced with serious tasks, but I am sure that we will overcome any obstacles and find the necessary solutions for the efficient operation of the glass industry, all our plans will be realized.

I wish all workers in the glass industry good health, family well-being, creative success, and prosperity for your enterprises.
