The Astrakhan glass container plant resumes operation after an eight-year break

One of the oldest factories in the Astrakhan region, BM Astrakhansteklo, plans to expect first production in 3-4 weeks. More than 500 million rubles were invested in the project.

“The glass container plant in the Astrakhan region has been operating for more than 15 years, the company has repeatedly become the best exporter of the year, the geography of supplies is Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan. For various reasons, in 2016 the owner decided to cease operations. In 2023, we got an investor, and since September, repair and restoration work has been underway to launch the enterprise. We plan to produce more than 180 million units of conventional cans and bottles per year, we will employ 350 people,” said Elena Pishchukhina, General Director of Steklo Plus LLC.

Glass containers will be sold not only in the region, but also in the Caspian countries; deliveries there are planned to begin by July.

As part of the work of the investment committee, Elena Pishchukhina appealed to Governor Igor Babushkin with a request to resolve the issue of repairing the pipeline located near the plant. The head of the regional center administration, Oleg Polumordvinov, said that to implement this, 25 million rubles will be required.
