Umatex acquired the assets of Owens Corning in Russia and Belarus

Composite division of Rosatom "Umatex" completed the acquisition of the assets of the American group Owens Corning in Russia and Belarus. Yumateks included enterprises for the production of fiberglass and insulating materials in the Vladimir and Tver regions, as well as a division in Belarus.

“The division's strategy is aimed at further development of advanced composite technologies and entry into the redistribution of finished products. The enterprises included in the contour of our management are market leaders in their segments. This transaction will certainly accelerate the scaling of the entire business and will contribute to the growth of the production of composite materials and finished products from them in Russia,” commented Alexander Tyunin, General Director of Yumatex JSC, on the transaction.

The plant for the production of fiberglass is located in the city of Gus-Khrustalny, Vladimir Region. Fiberglass is used as reinforcing elements of fiberglass and other composites in construction and medicine, machine and instrument making, automobile and shipbuilding, as well as in energy and aviation. Currently, the enterprise produces corrosion-resistant glass fiber in the form of a wide range of rovings and wet chopped fiber, as well as glass fabrics for various purposes. Capacities for the production of special structural glass fabrics for the manufacture of wind turbine blades used in wind energy were put into operation.

The plant for the production of thermal insulation based on stone wool is located in the Tver region. Products are used in residential and commercial construction, and in various industries: construction, oil and gas, petrochemical, electric power, etc. Building thermal insulation is used for heat and sound insulation of external walls, roofs, floors and foundations, to provide fire protection, as well as for insulation of interfloor ceilings. The range of technical insulation is widely used for the insulation of cylindrical, conical, flat and complex surfaces on various industrial equipment. The company's production complies with all environmental standards and norms.
