Vitebsk "Dolomite" in January - May increased export of products by more than 30%

Dolomit OJSC (Vitebsk) in January - May increased its export of products by more than 30%, the director general of the enterprise Ivan Babak told BelTA.

In recent years, Dolomite has been operating profitably; one of the reasons for its success is related to increasing activity in foreign markets. The enterprise manages not only to maintain its positions outside Belarus, but also to increase export deliveries for the second year in a row. At the end of 2019, the joint-stock company ensured the export growth rate of 130%, shipping products to foreign partners by $ 7.4 million. Over the five months of this year, the increase in exports amounted to 31% compared to the same period in 2019. “We expect to export $ 8.5 million worth of products throughout the year, which will allow us to repeat or even surpass our best export figure, which was achieved in 2015,” Ivan Babak shared his plans.

Today in the export portfolio of the enterprise the entire line (more than 10 types) of products from dolomite raw materials. In the past two years, the Vitebsk manufacturer has diversified supplies, increasing its presence in the Ukrainian market. Traditionally, Ukraine and Russia each accounted for 40% of the total export structure, while the Baltic countries accounted for another 20%. In 2019, the share of deliveries to Ukrainian partners increased to 65%, this year this indicator continues to grow, reaching 75%.

The basis of trade with its southern neighbors is dolomite raw materials for the metallurgical industry, as well as mineral powder used in road construction. To expand its presence in the Ukrainian market, the company introduced relevant standards, including European ones, Ivan Babak explained. In addition, Dolomite actively participates in the Forums of the Regions of Belarus and Ukraine, maintains constant contacts with the Ukrainian Embassy in Belarus, and also interacts with the Honorary Consulate of Ukraine in Vitebsk, which opened in December 2019.

Dolomite OJSC is the only company in Belarus and the largest enterprise in Europe for the extraction and processing of dolomite raw materials. It was created in 1931. Incorporated in 1995, 99.35% of the company's shares are in republican ownership. The raw material base for the manufacturer is the Ruba Dolomite deposit of eight sections. The largest of them, the Gralevo quarry, is currently being developed, the explored reserves of which are 686.4 million tons. Dolomite products are used in construction, oil refining, glass production, and also in agriculture.
