State Corporation Rostec announces that our country has developed innovative materials for glazing aircraft equipment.
Specialists of the RT-Chemcomposite holding took part in the work. Advanced materials are based on polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA).
It is claimed that the glasses produced by the proposed technology have high strength characteristics and thermal stability. They can be used in modern helicopters and aircraft, including supersonic vehicles.
“The main advantages of the new materials over foreign samples are increased resistance to surface cracking and preservation of strength characteristics after prolonged heating for 100 hours at a temperature of 160 ºC, as well as during short-term heating to 180 ºС,” the Rostec statement said.
It is noted that the new organic glass in its technical and operational characteristics correspond to the best world standards. It is assumed that in the future, advanced materials will find application in the space industry, shipbuilding, railway transport, etc.
Serial production of new high-tech glasses is planned to be deployed at the enterprise of the Polymer Research Institute of the RT-Chemcomposite holding.
