Uralelectromed broke the record for the production of cathode copper

At the end of 2019, Uralelectromed JSC issued 413,346 tons of cathode copper, thereby updating its own record maximum. For the first time in the years of operation of the enterprise, the production level amounted to 103.2% of the data for 2018.

Such high rates are due to a stable supply of raw materials, well-coordinated work of the labor collective and the use of modern high-performance equipment, explained Alexey Korolev, chief engineer of Uralelectromed JSC.

According to him, the new copper electrolysis shop of the enterprise was designed taking into account the latest technological solutions in the field of copper electrorefining, and all production processes are automated as much as possible.

Currently, reconstruction is underway at the enterprise - the third phase of the copper electrolysis workshop is under construction.

The first phase of the copper electrolysis workshop was commissioned in February 2012. This is a modern workshop with a capacity of 160 thousand tons of cathode copper per year. In May 2018, the second phase with the same capacity was launched.

The third phase will work the same as the first two - on baseless technology using stainless steel cathodes. The new facility will house one circulation system, consisting of 224 electrolysis baths with associated technological equipment (tanks, pumps, heat exchangers). In addition, two new automated lines will be installed - anode preparation machines and anode scrap washing machines.

The construction is carried out by Uralmetallurgmontazh-2 contractors, and the Uralmekhanobr design institute is engaged in the design of technological, ventilation and automatic systems for the third stage.

The entire range of work of the zero cycle is planned to be completed this summer. It is planned to completely complete the construction of a new production facility in 2022. This will allow the company to produce a total of up to 400 thousand tons of copper cathodes per year.

Exceeding the cathode copper production plan is not the only enterprise record in 2019. Uralelectromed produced 105% of copper sulfate compared to the level of 2018, 104.4% of selenium and 109.2% of tellurium.

Also, Uralelectromed increased the productivity of the intermediate processing section of the chemical and metallurgical workshop. This will allow in 2020 to produce 100 tons of antimony concentrate (rough antimony). Antimony compounds are used in the manufacture of ceramic products, enamels, glass and paints.

JSC Uralelectromed is an enterprise for the electrolytic refining of copper and its products, the largest producer of high-quality copper cathodes. In addition, the company produces gold and silver bullion, copper sulfate, nickel sulfate, selenium, tellurium, a concentrate of platinum group metals, lead grades C0 and C1, and also provides hot dip galvanizing services.
