The drop in the mineral insulation segment in 2020 may be 2%

The mineral isolation segment will continue to fall in 2020. According to experts of TECHNONICOL, consumption will be reduced by 2%. In monetary terms, the decrease can reach 4%. Stagnation in construction, which affected most of the regions of Russia, will contribute to negative trends.

“There are no prerequisites for the growth of the construction market, on which the heat insulation segment directly depends,” Given a favorable set of circumstances (increased investment and budget execution for existing state programs), it would be possible to maintain the market at the level of the previous year. However, stagnation in construction will continue in 2020, which means that consumption of stone wool and fiberglass, according to our estimates, will decrease by an average of 2%, ”commented Vasily Tkachev, Mineral Isolation Director of TECHNONIKOL.

The main decline in the segment of mineral insulation occurs due to a drop in the pace of housing construction and industrial and civil construction in most regions of the Russian Federation. In retail in 2020, stagnation will also continue, caused by a decrease in the purchasing power of the population and its high borrowing.

In the next 5 years, a slight increase is possible in the segment of mineral insulation - by 3-4%, which will allow to load capacities that are idle today. “For explosive growth in the construction sector and in the economy as a whole, serious investments and cheap loans are needed, which are not yet available. But we hope for a warming of the investment climate in our country in connection with the arrival of the new cabinet and the direct dialogue promised by his head with the business, ”said Vasily Tkachev.
